  The impedance of the PCB multilayer circuit board refers to the parameters of resistance and reactance, which hinder the alternating current. In the production of PCB multilayer circuit boards, impedance processing is essential. Why do PCB multilayer circuit boards need impedance?

  1. In the production process of PCB multilayer circuit boards, they have to go through processes such as copper sinking, electroplating tin (or chemical plating, or thermal spray tin), and connector soldering, and the materials used in these links must ensure that the resistivity is low. In order to ensure that the overall impedance of the circuit board is low to meet the product quality requirements, it can operate normally.

  2. The tinning of the PCB multilayer circuit board is the most prone to problems in the production of the entire multilayer circuit board, and it is the key link that affects the impedance. The biggest defect of electroless tin plating layer is easy discoloration (easy to oxidize or deliquescence) and poor solderability, which will make the circuit board difficult to solder, and the impedance will be too high, resulting in poor electrical conductivity or unstable performance of the whole board.

  3. The pcb circuit (the bottom of the board) needs to consider the installation of electronic components. After the SMT patch is inserted in the later stage, it is also necessary to consider the conductivity and signal transmission performance, so the lower the impedance, the better, especially the microwave signal. Equipment, the requirements for resistivity are: less than 1&TImes; 10-6 per square centimeter.

  4. There will be various signal transmissions in the conductors of the PCB multilayer circuit board. When the frequency must be increased in order to increase its transmission rate, if the circuit itself is different due to factors such as etching, stack thickness, and wire width, it will cause impedance. It is worth changing to distort the signal and cause the performance of the circuit board to decrease, so it is necessary to control the impedance value within a certain range.
